A few days ago I sent an email to all club members about this year's election:

Quote:
Torrey Hawks Election, Bylaws Proposal, and Other Events

Hello Fellow Torrey Hawks,

I'm writing to let you know about the upcoming Torrey
Hawks Election, Proposed Bylaws Change, and a few
other upcoming events.

Our annual election will be held at this month's Second
Sunday meeting of the Torrey Hawks on September 13th
at Torrey Pines Gliderport.

If any of our members are barred from attending, then
we'll do it as a Special Meeting via email as stated in our
bylaws (included below). Our current officers are all willing
to continue in their current positions:

President: Brian McMahon
VP: David Beardslee
Secretary: Vacant (Bob Kuczewski filling in)

Please let me know if you'd like to run for any of our
Board positions before noon on Saturday. Thanks.

I would also like to propose an amendment to our club
bylaws to add a 4th officer: "Safety Officer". If approved,
our Article IV would read:

"The officers of the Torrey Hawks shall be a
President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Safety
Officer. These officers are elected for a one year
term by voting members of the Club at the annual
meeting. Representatives of the club to other
organizations shall be chosen by the President."

USHPA has required that we designate a person to
be in charge of safety, and currently Brian McMahon
has been performing that function. I am suggesting
that we dedicate a position on our Board for that.

Also, Crestline will be holding their annual Andy
Jackson Memorial Fly-In on September 12th. The
Crestline club is a great group, and I encourage
folks to attend if they can. Read more here:

And if you're looking for something even more
exotic, try the Rio Grande Soaring Association's
upcoming Columbus Day Gathering. They're also
a great group!! Read more here:

Thanks as always for your membership!!!

The club web site shall be TorreyHawks.org.

Article II - Purpose
* The Torrey Hawks Hang Gliding Club is dedicated to promoting and protecting the sport of Hang Gliding at the Torrey Pines Gliderport.

Article III - Membership

Voting members must hold a USHPA rating of H4 or above and have flown a hang glider at the Torrey Pines Gliderport within the previous three years.

Article IV - Officers
* The officers of the Torrey Hawks shall be a President, Vice-President, and Secretary. These officers are elected for a one year term by voting members of the Club at the annual meeting. Representatives of the club to other organizations shall be chosen by the President.

Article V - Meetings

Article VI - Minutes and Records
* The Torrey Hawks secretary will take notes at all meetings and distribute them electronically as requested by members.

Article VII - Parlimentary Authority
* The Torrey Hawks meetings shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order, Revised unless otherwise provided for in these By-Laws.

Article VIII - Ammendments
* Ammendments to these By-Laws may be made during Annual or Special Meetings and require a two-thirds vote of the voting membership present at any such meeting.

Several of us had a great time at the Cresline event yesterday, but no one has put their name in the hat to run against any of our existing Board members. So we will keep the existing Board for another year.

Thanks!!

Our 2015 annual election meeting was surprisingly uneventful. All officers were confirmed by unanimous vote.

We also passed a unanimous bylaws change to add a new board position for safety officer. This will be an elected position, but for this first year our club president (Brian) will make an appointment.

Thanks to everyone who attended!!!
