Bill,
That is the footlaunch hill in the last graphic. When foot launching there and gaining a bit of altitude, the airport is within glide.
The hillside to the west is even closer.
The left turn pattern you drew is close to what we do. The altitude at release determines whither to stay inside the tree line, or fly over.
That corner does kick off thermals regularly. If you are low, flying a bit faster than trim thru that point is a good idea. Most often students stay over the
airfield, until we move the pulley all the way to the south end.
