Michelmore's "Candidate Statement" was not a candidate statement AT ALL! It was a candidate ENDORSEMENT! He doesn't even state that he is withdrawing from the election! He can PRIVATELY or publicly endorse a candidate by any non USHPA RD Election Medium he wishes. But being allowed to do what Mark Forbes allowed him to do is plainly corrupt - or plain stupid. However, IMHO Mark Forbes is NOT stupid, which leaves, . . .

Here's How things should have gone -

Mr. Forbes: Hi Pete, this is Mark Forbes. From the content of your "USHPA RD Candidate Statement" it is clear that you've decided to withdraw your nomination. Is that true?

Mr. Michelmore: Yea, that would be true, Mark.

Mr. Forbes: Well then, I can't allow you to be making any Candidate Statement - or "position of privilege" endorsement for some other candidate - since you've withdrawn your candidacy.

Mr. Michelmore: Okay. What you say makes complete sense. Clearly you should remove my endorsement of my old pal David Jebb.

That was downright weird. Again, I ask, what are hang glider pilots doing in a parachuting organization? You are outnumbered, you have no representation and your election process doesn't even make sense.

Rick,

Don't ask me. I quit the U$PGA a year and a half ago. There's a lot more about the "Association" that just doesn't make sense.

Instead, . . . I'm riding THIS horse because it seems to be headed in a much better direction! . . . . . . :D

Regarding the Michelmore video ... it didn't take long for someone to cover their tracks:

Bob,

The missing video is no big deal. On Vimeo (unlike youtube) a viewer can download a copy -in HD even! I took that precaution while it was still up, just in case. Heck, it may re-appear on some other web video playing site. 8-)

I also saved the web page in total, . . . took an "external" HD video of the video playing, . . . which coincidentally stands as a screen capture of the original Vimeo Web Site post information. Plus you got a still image capture of the video information.

Clearly someone (the poster of the video) got the message that the video included illegal paragliding/base (style) jumping activities and (after 4 years?) thought it best to remove it. Sadly, the people's memories that saw that video can't be erased. And since the video was downloadable, it can't be erased from all the memory sources where it resides. It's on "Permanent Record" as they say. :shh:

Firefox has an add-on available (search add-ons for "Flash Video Downloader)" that allows you to do such things on Youtube. I also recommend the "Better Privacy" add-on which will allow you to track and delete Flash "super cookies" - LSO's - which are legion these days. They both work great on my Linux boxes. Frankly being on the internet running a Windows machine seems a bit like flying a paraglider in mid day thermals.

After 4 years, it was probably not a coincidence that it was removed only hours after it was posted here. Definitely a cover up.      :shh:

Linux!!    I started messing around with a Slackware distribution in 1995 and never looked back. Maybe we could start a "Computer Technology" subforum to help get more US Hawks members flying out of their windows.      ;)

Actually, there is a (pretty easy) way to download Youtube videos. I haven't got time to go into it now wingspan, but let me know if you're interested.
