Old Geezers

Postby soar8hours » Tue Dec 10, 2013 7:32 am

I watch some of these youtube / vimeo videos and then look at the USHPA magazine
and wonder why so many of us older pilots are looking more like nursing home canidates :?:

Then I look in the mirror and understand I am among the ranks

Father time sure has an weird sense of humor by slowly creeping up on us with a secret weapon called aging.
Now, UP Comets look old by design and flying seated is a thing of the past too.
That's one thing the PG folks do have right.... they can sit up & enjoy the view.

I was laying on the floor playing with our 6 year old granddaughter the other day.
When I finally got up, I headed for the recliner and man did I realise what a blessing it was to return to a
normal position of relaxation. Maybe I will call the lazy boy company & see what they'll charge to make me
a carbon fiber hang glider recliner harness

Awesome video!!! The music was almost as good as the flying. I hadn't heard that Hendrix track in maybe ... 20 years!!

The folding base bar is simple and ingenious, and the last 5 seconds ... well I won't spoil the surprise for anyone else. :)

Tommy,
Your comments and shared video brings to mind the possibility of feet-first reverse prone or more easily said: lying on one's back with feet toward the HG nose for easy looking up through a see-through panel in the wing. See birds and pilots flying directly overhead; see the clouds directly overhead; see pilot-gathering actions directly overhead. Sit back up for horizon views in supine.
