Re: Approaching USHPA for a Shared Rating System

Hey Scott,
On Bob’s first post he suggested a week to post motions about asking to use
the USHPA’s ratings manual.
In the past we had the option to change our vote at anytime up until the vote deadline
( which by the way hasn’t been discussed yet)
So yes Trial Board Members (TBM) can vote now if they prefer.
A voting date deadline is necessary to give adequate time to all TBM’s
to participate and persuade other TBM’s.

Hi Scott,

I think we're also collecting nominations to vote on. You had posted something as a nomination, but you used the number "4" which had already been posted above. So it's not clear if you'd like that to be nomination "5" or if you were withdrawing it.

Also, I should apologize that I haven't been tracking this as closely as I should have. I was consumed with the court case earlier in the week, and I'm sorry that it diverted my attention from this important topic. I'm glad you and Bill have posted to raise it's visibility again.

Thanks!!   :salute:

TBM,
I've been served the kool-aid for so long from USHPA that I still find myself stuck in a paradigm sealed with a thick coat of brainwashing.

The only motion, so far, receiving a second was mine but in my motion I’m seeing the word, “their,” when referring to the ratings manual.

The USHGA --- (by the way if your brain just read that acronym with a [P] in it, YOU’VE BEEN HAD.) --- was started by some of the old guard that are roosting here at the US HAWKS.

The ratings manual was started and refined through the years before the organization went from USHGA to USHPA.

To use the word, “their,” in my motion I’ve relinquished my past input to the manual and that of some of the others hang gliding sport originators.

I consider the hang gliding portion of the ratings manual to be MINE AND OURS NOT THEIRS.

I will let my motion’s typo stand since the motion is only whether or not to approach the USHPA about the ratings manual and has nothing to do with how we move forward after the vote.

The   NOMINATION/MOTION   period has come to an end, Midnight Sunday May 06, 2018 EDT.
The only   MOTION   to receive a SECOND TO THE MOTION by Bob Kuczewski was:
Should we approach the USHPA on the topic of using their ratings manual.
Vote   YES     NO   or
  NONE OF THE ABOVE
A majority vote by the Trial Board Members (TBM) will carry. (Official vote deadline is Sunday May 11, 2018 midnight EDT.)

Bill Cummings:   YES

Typo on the date for the vote deadline: Sunday May 11, 2018 midnight EDT should read - SUNDAY MAY 13, 2018 midnight EDT.

I'm sorry about failing to recall the previously agreed to delay when voting. In being reminded, I thought to myself "Oh yea, we did decide to do it that way, didn't we!" I think I was distracted by a long back and forth discussion somewhere else.

Also, Bob I have no idea why I gave my (page 1) proposed addition to your opening list the #4. I should have given it the #5. But at this point we are deciding on Bill's proposal which would be -

Should we approach the USHPA on the topic of using their ratings manual.

I have given much thought to this topic and I think there are many good arguments for asking and not asking. Indeed I have considered abstaining from voting on this issue. But, at this time, I think that participating is the best idea.

Considering the singular question above, my vote would be   NO

I've flip flopped on this so much I feel like a trout out of water. There are good arguments both ways, but here is my final decision and vote.

  NO

I vote   YES  , but the majority has voted   NO  . The majority wins.

If there are no objections by the end of the day, I'll move this topic into the public section of the forum.

I should add that I am very proud of this Board for voting against me because it's further proof that this is not a "puppet" board in any way.
