Awesome picture Barb!!
I first visited Torrey in the spring of 1983, and that picture is EXACTLY as I remember it. I remember walking up the hill to the trailer and asking about flying there. I didn't have enough experience back then to fly Torrey, but I remember it just like that picture shows it.
Thanks very very very much for joining us here on the US Hawks!!
By the way, tomorrow (Sunday) is our Torrey Hawks "Second Sunday at Torrey" and you're welcome to stop by. I usually get there in the afternoon, and I bring food and soft drinks for our members. Give me a call at 858-204-7499 if you're interested.
Thanks again for the historic pictures.

Thanks for posting.
Lots of rigid wings on this day, seems.
You were up there, a good deal above the cliff. Why was all the others on the ground?![]()
There is some development shown in the pic. Well the radar station, that sat on the edge near the trailer, is gone by this time.
Thanks again,

Then Hawxhurst got the first Flight Realities trailer put out there.
Two things about the current management.
Who the eff thought grass was a good idea on a sloping LZ?
Who the eff thought fan palms were a good idea? I imagine they'd just be another obstacle on a whackin northwest day. That stupid tree is kind of right in my approach line, but I don't fly there any more so it's your problem now.
