As with most children's activities , swings, roundabouts,, slides, climbing frames, etcetera, a helmet might provide some protection but in general they are not worn. Having spatial awareness and developing natural agility would likely be hindered by the wearing of protective gear such as helmets and pads. The consequences of hurting yourself are a good teacher and reliance on protective gear might dull this learning process. However I do normally wear protective gear when I consider it prudent.
I thought the prone take off swing goes hand in hand with the Little Hawk ground running exercise.
