As to Ben Reese, . . . I've read a few of his posts over in the Land of Oz. And he even reminds me of one of those Lolly Pop Guild guys.

Besides all that, someone I once knew liked to give people nicknames. For Ben Reese and his posts he might have come up with -

Reese's Pieces!

or maybe,

Reese's Pieces with Nuts!

Hmmmmm, . . . Can "with" be replaced with "is"?

Graeme Henderson has made some false accusations on the Oz Forum that he can't back up with any supporting evidence - because there is none. Bill and Joe and ARP have been holding him accountable for those false accusations. Graeme responds by lashing out at almost everyone - including Francis Rogallo!!!

Here's Graeme Henderson's quote including his attack on Francis Rogallo:

"I regard Bob as one of the lowest of the bottom feeders, down there with ARP,
Faust and the super sleazy and totally dishonest Francis Melvin Rogallo."

Unbelievable!!!

Here's Graeme Henderson's full quote to Bill ( available at http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42429&start=144 ) :

Graeme Henderson on Tue, Jul 7 2015, 9:39:04 pm wrote:Bill,

Hide and twist it as much as you like. The very act of filming like that is provocative, Bob is cunning, he knows how to push buttons and he is doing it to get the guys school closed. The longer this goes on the less respect I have for you, you're starting to become another Bob, spinning the stories he invents to make his nastiness look like innocence. I regard Bob as one of the lowest of the bottom feeders, down there with ARP, Faust and the super sleazy and totally dishonest Francis Melvin Rogallo.

Think about what you are doing Bill, this whole reaction to some minor incidents is so over the top you make all HG pilots look petty and callous. For this we are to believe the USHPA needs to be split in two, for this the idiot got kicked out of the USHPA. You all look like a bunch of silly girls screaming at a spider on the far side of the room.

Grow up, wake up, and piss Bob K off. Remember, the problem is Bob, or more accurately it's Bob's pea sized brain and his supersized ego that are the problem. Get rid of Bob and any issues can be dealt with sanely.

Cheers,
Graeme

Imagine how complimented I feel - as a relative newby - to be included among such prestigious names in hang gliding history: Tony Prentice, Joe Faust, and Francis Rogallo!!!

Sam, the privilege has been mine to have such good friends as yourself. I don't know if you go back as far as Francis Rogallo or Joe Faust in hang gliding, but you go a lot further back than me. It's been my privilege to know you and have your friendship. I hope I can live long enough to repay you for all the kindness and hospitality you've shown me.

Thanks for all of that, and let's keep moving forward with our great team!!!

Political correctness on Oz forum

Postby Rick Masters » Sat Jul 11, 2015 9:48 am

Brett Hazlett wrote on his blog Flying the Void http://flyingthevoid.blogspot.com/
Nine months ago, in September 2014, I was lying on the side of a ten-thousand-foot desert mountain in Turkey, unable to move, struggling to breath. People rescued me, people I knew, people I didn't. Alone in a Turkish hospital, watching the shadows of objects in my room arc across the floor from dawn to dusk, each day, for weeks, in agony and gratitude, I thought about how death is easy, surviving is difficult. One morning, a bird landed on my window sill, sang for a few moments, then flew away. From that moment, I felt an intense resolve. For five months, I was unable to walk. Each day, hours of excruciating physiotherapy and training. Pain was my shadow. When I was alone at night, I cried. Then, slowly, steps. Gently. Inside I screamed in rage. More months, winter passed. I started flying again. Tentatively. Many flights later, on this day, I realized that I was physically and mentally ready to compete again. It was a simple flight with friends: a bright blue sky, beautiful mountains, and rough thermals. With new next-level flying and filming gear, for the first time in over a year, I felt motivated to film again.

This was reposted on Oz Report http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43149 and Miraclepieco responded
No lesson learned? Stick your hand into the cobra pit again? After such a close call and long agonizing recovery, somehow it smacks of foolhardiness to tempt fate anew. You were lucky to survive once - it seems an insult whatever benevolent force spared you. Mark Gibson survived a serious trike crash in 2009. He resumed flying and was killed in a triking accident just weeks ago. When you have one major incident like that, perhaps fate is trying to tell you something. Something like, "DON'T DO IT AGAIN, IDIOT!"

This was important food for thought, but Miraclepieco was pressured by the HG/PG soup of the Oz Report to remove his post and apologize. This is just another example of a haughty majority stifling discussion of important issues by shutting down someone's forthright opinion - especially with a goodly part of that majority consisting of soaring parachutists. This is really bad for the sport of hang gliding. It's even bad for paragliding, which is less of a sport and more of a form of high-stakes gambling using dangerously-modified parachutes.

In his forced apology, Miraclepieco pointed out that
I once had a hang glider crash that could have been fatal. Having come so close to death once, I had to seriously consider if I ever wanted to fly again. But my accident was different: although the glider was destroyed I wasn't hurt at all, so the decision to return was easier.

Paragliders NEVER protect their operators in crashes but hang gliders OFTEN do. This is very significant but appears to have been completely lost on the politically correct members of the Oz Forum, who struggle to justify paragliding as an equal sport to hang gliding at every opportunity.

Typical for the Oz Report, which is populated with soaring parachutists to keep hang glider pilots in line, paraglider operator and Paragliding Forum attack dog Graeme Henderson* was quick to deride hang glider pilot Miraclepieco with
I do no accept that as an apology for three reasons.
1. The attempt at justification.
2. You failed to apologize to the family and friends of Mark Gibson for using his death in your attack on Brett.
3. You haven't identified yourself.
Now stop being a coward and apologize like a man..

But Miraclepieco, you were 100% correct. People in paragliding, in particular, rarely listen when they are given severe warnings. More people should be pointing this out. And bringing up previous accidents like Mark's is relevant and important. You don't owe anybody an apology. Perhaps you are posting on the wrong forum, one that would be more suitably named The Propaganda Report. There is one forum where you can say what you think without being attacked by paragliding snobs enforcing an agenda. This one - at the U.S. Hawks.

And I want you to know that Brett Hazlett is definitely on my short list, which includes all aerobatists, speedflyers, top competitors and people who narrowly survive paragliding accidents but continue to fly. I fully expect to see many of these people on the long list - the paragliding death list, currently standing at one thousand, three hundred and forty-one souls, many of them "experts."
