After "perrrviewing" many training videos over the past, I have seen that "newcombers" are "encouraged" to "take off" , before they are "fully" schooled on what can go wrong during this "death defying" sport. My oldest son became A much better driver at age 16, because his teacher required his class to watch some pretty gruesome (his words) accidents. He said that his teacher walked them step by step, through "what can go wrong". He said "little mistakes can lead to "unintended consequences".
A universal training manual which uses videos, and hours of required classroom training, would go a long way to showing the things that can go wrong. it's easy to show what can go right. Stop action videos, would show the step by step things (along with the "physics" of the air) that lead up to an accident. My dad would always show me what could go wrong while flying, and we "practiced allot", but we always did it at altitude. Young hang glider pilots don't have that advantage. But we do have the advantage of technology to better train pilots.
This is another of my "must" topics, and I thank you Bob for your leadership on this, and other topics.
