Joe and I had a fun day of flying today (technically yesterday). We haven't reviewed all the video yet, but between us we probably flew somewhere between 50 to 100 flights.

Here's one of Joe's flights:

We had a fun day today with 4 pilots (Steve, Bryan, Juan Carlos, Bob), and 3 gliders (Wills Wing Spectrum, Dream 220, Alpha 210). The wind was less than soarable, the parking lot was jammed, and the beach was crowded. But we made the best of it with lots of fun flights!!

Here's Steve and friends while setting up his Spectrum:

By the way, this was a special day for Steve. He hadn't flown a hang glider in over 20 years ... until he met up with Frank Colver. Frank shared the news of the new Dockweiler waiver, and Steve signed himself up a few months ago. Today was his first day using it. So ...

Welcome Back Steve!!!

Thanks for your outreach Frank!!!

It's great!!!

It's a lot like my Falcon 195, but the wing tips are about 6 inches shorter. I've done most of my flying on single surface gliders (Falcon, Condor, Dream, and Alpha), so I'm obviously not too concerned about glide performance. The Alpha 210 suits me just fine for "boating around" in the sky.

If you're ever at Dockweiler when I'm there, you're welcome to fly it.

By the way, this particular glider was owned and flown by Mike Meier (Wills Wing), Frank Colver (USHGA #7), and Joe Faust (USHGA #5). It's got a lot of history for a relatively new glider. :)

One can see the progress in launch technique as the day progresses.

It's a good sign when they forecast it to stay strong past sunset.
