Soar from some exterior launch into TP lift.
Soar TP.
Then maybe with small e-assist get inland
to soar east to some exterior LZ.
Who will be the first? This topic thread is for planning notes toward such a flight.

What paths? Challenges?

There is a lot of HG-permitted sky out there; none of it is closed to any US HG citizen.
There is no final requirement to have such citizen be a member of any private corporation.
No rating or license is required. No medical certificate either. From micro-HG to XC HG!
Helmets are not required. VFR. F.A.R. guide the HG pilots and such puts some safety limits on the flights.

But helmets, risk management, safe-splat gear, and flying that does not injure others or their properties is the recommended way. Having craft that will fulfill objectives is fundamental for successful flights.

Our open airspace is not privatized.

I know a friend who had done this using a gas powered hang glider. He launched and landed from an inland site, but used power to get to Torrey where he could soar unpowered.

I think this is a super idea, but the land that we call "Torrey" is our land. It's owned by the people of San Diego. It should not be given to any person or organization to use in a discriminatory manner. That needs to be fixed regardless of other alternatives.

By the way, we have a topic on the forum titled "Look Ma, No USHPA" which is meant to highlight sites that are available without requiring USHPA membership. I posted my recent flight at Horse Canyon to that topic. Yesterday, when I was at Torrey, Robin Marien (concssionaire) mocked my inability to fly Torrey by shouting out "Look Ma, No Torrey" to me. Again, this needs to be fixed regardless of other alternatives.
