I really feel a bit odd writing these Posts here on this Birds of Prey Web-Site. But the way I see it you are all my potential friends. So just please Bear with these ramblings by a Broken down Predator Pilot.

I was talking to a Pilot Friend of Mine about having Blown it so Badly that Day when I pounded, said Hell Chris if this happened to You, then that makes me very nervous for your landings were always crisp, tight, and Right. Due to as best we can figure out, I must have blown my approach during my landing. You need to know that My Flight had been an XC Flight. No one witnessed my Crash. I am of little use for I do not remember the Flight, the Day, And I only remember bits and pieces of that Week.

Well I so Hope that5 I will never have another Grand-Mall Seizure again. Yes if I can stay Seizure Free for another six months. I might very well be able to drive Myself down to Southern California, and do some Flying! Yea Baby!

You are among friends here. I used to live about 2 blocks from John Heiney, and we would get together to either fly, talk, or eat a few times a week. He always called you "The Big Guy in the Sky". That was years before your accident. John's respect for you was obvious, and he was deeply saddened by your crash. John's respect was passed on to me.

That sounds good to me. Just keep exercising your body and mind. You're doing great since I've known you!

Hello All You Hawkes::


Well it is 2:30 Am I am awake. So I thought that I would sit down at my Computer Desk and Check out My Computer. You know for Me My accident and the resulting Damage that was done to my Body, My Brain was seriously injured. I never gave My Helmet much thought. Like How it would Perform, or how it would fail to Perform like My Charly insider failed fully protect my Skull and more importantly My Brain. My Brain took a terruble Beating on March 28th. 2010. I look back and think about how confident that I was in my Ability to fly my Hang Glider. My Helmet. it was just something that I wore. when I Flew. Hell I would never actually need it to perform. ME crash? I would never crash right? Wrong! I did indeed did crash! My Friend Robert M was one of the first to come see me in the Hospital after my Crash. Robert was Told to tell My Family to Get my Things together for I would not survive. When You hurt yourself as badly as I did You find yourself as I did anyways being written off by your Health care Providers, you know your Doctors. Here is a bit of Hospital Humor. Now I realize that I am typing what I will say, But this is some Humor, take it as humor: Do You know when You have been in the Hospital too long? Your Mail begins to be forwarded to You. I hope that from reading this sentence that it cause a few of you to Chuckle.

Well I have gone on way to long here talking about my Pound. So I truly hope to be able to fly at Dockweiler one Day.

Not at all. This is your topic, and it is a good one. Your story is inspirational to pilots and even non-pilots. Thanks for helping us to see what we would otherwise miss.

OK if I just did this correctly I have Pasted onto this Forum what I previously Posted on HANGGLIDING.ORG. You know My Crash was a serious reality Check for Me. My having crashed as a result of my not handling landing in high winds, winds approaching 30 Miles an Hour almost cost Me My Life. But I survived and I am back, I am really getting Back to my old Self. Old, Hell I really am old, I am Sixty years old now. Well someday I hope to come down to Dockweiler and Fly a Condor. What a Day in My Life that will be.

Years ago I had my bell rung while crashing into a frozen bean field in Wisconsin (USA).
While fooling with harness problems (unfocused) I locked out, released late, and woke
up in the Emergency room to find stitches in my chin. I do remember before arriving
at the impact zone 30 minutes before the ambulance that, “This is really going to hurt
or it’s not going to hurt at all.” It hurt. For three week after the crash is what was lost
from memory.
