I'm PG

Different strokes for different folks, but this is not golf. Please post articles that show The contrasts between HG & PG. Devoid of personal opinion for now. The contrasts are there in black and white. Let's see what we can learn from Sgt. Friday, ...The Facts Man,.. ..Just the Facts. We should present "advertising" about HG & PG to show "Contrast". (it is very subtle, so dig deep) After awhile we should write a small story about how "we" perceive these contrasts without bias. Keep in mind, as you think about this topic, that the marketing used for "training" is totally different than for product.
If this topic "gains favor", and can go to other forums, I think it will only add to the ability of future flyers and others, to make a better informed choice for the whole family.
Another "contrast" is the "maintenance and longevity" of a Hang Glider and a Paraglider.
After awhile I think we should "dive" into the "contrasts" between foreign "aircraft" companies and American Aircraft Companies, and their respective "liabilites", (and profit margin) and their affect and approach to marketing, and training. The "first chapter in this topic is just a data building effort, for now, but if "no data", no "banter".

Conveniently left out of this history (along with much else) is Rick Masters 6 volume of "history" and "real data" about "paragliding".

Conveniently left out of their "false narrative"....
The NAMES. (In no certain order and help this new guy out with a more complete list)...... .DAVID CRONK, DICK EIPER, ROBERT LOVEJOY, JACK LAMBIE, JACK SCHROEDER, BURK, WILLS, FRANK COLVER, JOHN HEINEY, BILL BENNETT, MOYES, JEFF CAMPBELL, JOE FAUST, and on, and on, and on, and on
And on............
The pictures of the Hang Glider itself are conveniently left out of their "history narrative". The evolution of these "wings" in pictures, is truly an amazing progression of "a pilot engineers mind", that u$hpa will never show.

Maby the "H" in u$Hpa stands for "HISTORY", and Hang Gliding, and should, with respect, "fly away" from u$hpa, and let it be its own self.
u$pa .
u$pha's own words.... "Leaving Hang Gliding for another generation".
Damn right, they are learning who this "other generation" of "PILOTS" are, and always have been.

Let's use a US HAWKS "magnifying glass" to contrast the "H" and the "P" in u$hpa. It's in black and white, and may end up being a "class action law claim" about "defamation of character".

I have broken my own rule about not posting "bias".....I'll try to do better.

From Craig's two USHPA links:

The bottom of the Hang Gliding history page shows a picture of a paraglider along with the link to the paragliding history page:

The bottom of the Paragliding history page shows only a link to the hang gliding history page (no picture). USHPA couldn't find a historic hang glider picture to put beside the link?

Also note that the paragliding history page has a link to "find a school or instructor". Why isn't there a similar link anywhere on the hang gliding history page?

Summary: There's a picture of a paraglider on the hang gliding history page, but no picture of a hang glider on the paragliding history page. There's a link to take lessons on the paragliding page, but no link to take lessons on the hang gliding page.

And don't take offence......it's a parody of my own making.

"U$HPA CERTIFIED.....CERTIFIED......CERTIFIED.....online paragliding company, ................…..................................because they don't want you to "know the particulars

Sounds like a used car salesman I once didn't know.

Somebody put up a "contrast" just for fun

Check out strength of paragliding materals.
After 500 hours of flight, (that's about 10 new parasails in a lifetime $30,000.), the para glider fabric , must be scrapped. AND make sure you remove the insects

Anybody have any hang glider materials, and strength comparasons?

PARA-
a combining form extracted from parachute, forming compounds denoting persons or things utilizing parachutes or landed by parachute: paradrop; paradoctor; paraglider; paratrooper.

para [par´ah] (L.)
a woman who has produced one or more viable offspring. Used with numerals to designate the number of pregnancies that have resulted in the birth of viable offspring, as para 0 (none—nullipara), para I (one—unipara), para II (two—bipara) ( 2 offsprings?......now that's a thought about tandumb paragliding para III (three—tripara), para IV (four—quadripara). The number is not indicative of the number of offspring produced in the event of a multiple birth.

Interesting contrasts.

When I see tandem riders at Torrey now, I will forever after call them ,,,@BIPARAs

Extracted from parachute..... And pulse checked..... And compression applied....... And Coroner called.

Two gliders?... .Two pilots... Paradrop.... oh don't say drop..... what does tandumb mean anymore?

It looks like they are asleep in their PERRRaGLIDER
