Another excellent video Eric. As usual, it is well produced and full of good information. But it does overlook some of the abusive practices within the sport. In that regard, it's like a documentary of Nazi Germany that doesn't mention the concentration camps or the holocaust.

But maybe you're saving that for it's own dedicated episode. Time will tell.

First, I do think that Eric's efforts to promote hang gliding through his videos and his web site are a great gift to the sport. Thank you Eric.

    

If he had stuck with the "happy happy learn to fly" kinds of videos, I would not have had a word of criticism. But when he dipped into the "political" aspects of the sport without fully representing some of the most abusive aspects, I felt compelled to speak up. And I have. I never imagined a hang gliding video might be compared to an insufficient Nazi documentary.

People often bristle at that analogy, and no analogy is perfect, but it does convey a lot of information in very few words.

I hope this is a fair question: Do you feel your video reported all of the abuses in the sport that might fall under the title of being "political"?

This video includes everything I wanted.

Eric had sidestepped my question, but his sidestepping was an answer in itself.

It's painful for me to have to criticize Eric because I am sure that his heart is in the right place. The same goes for many of the others that I have criticized from Brad Hall to Lisa Tate to Rich Hass to Tom Howard to Michael Grisham and many others. I am sure that most of them have had good intentions at some level. But all that evil needs to thrive is for good people to do nothing. When each of those mostly good people stepped into the spotlight but failed to address the evil in the sport, they effectively condoned it. That's what I feel that Eric is doing by creating a video about "politics" in the sport of hang gliding while ignoring a few of the elephants in that room.
