Kansas City Hang Gliding

Hang gliding in Kansas City area?

Does it ever happen anymore or is it all over and done with?

From my perspective it all but died with the emergence of an entity known as the 'Blindrodie'.

If anyone knows any different I would like to know what you know.

I heard the 'Blindrodie' was trying to sell a trike tug and a Millennium that didn't belong to him a while back.
Also for sale on an ongoing basis from the 'Blindrodie' is professional video/editing software packages.

Does anyone still fly from the Kansas City area?
Anyone want to fly?
Any valid information solicited and appreciated.

Doug sounds active in Wichita. Sounds like your old buddy Jim wants to go down there and fly. Maybe you two could share a ride, catch up and reminisce about the good old days.

Wichita KS Hang Gliding? Yes, we do that!

I quit paying u$hPa dues many years ago because I didn't want to drive so far to fly.

He knows the way. I have an email here somewhere explaining how he went there to visit the FAA and describe to them in full detail how the u$hPa was operating flight parks illegally all across the country. Remember Lookout Mt. Tennessee getting shut down years ago? That was Jim Gaar.

I think it best that Jim and I reminisce here on line. He posts so much all over the place that surely he will have something helpful to add to this thread. He has actually posted before that I shouldn't fly any more because... never quite explained that...
Never too late Blindrodie to get it off your chest. Don't leave it up to me alone to reminisce about old times.

I'm actually looking for qualified pilots. I think I remember pointing Jeff to the 'Blindrodie' who was claiming to run a flightpark for 5 years. He's still a Hang 3
over 10 years later but still puts out a lot of *expert* advise. "Pick a flight plan and stick with it", comes to mind..

If Jeff got qualified, or anyone else, I would like to hear from them.
Who is Aero Tow Pilot rated in the Kansas City area?
People erroneously believe that Jim Gaar is ATP rated, by all the smoke he blows,
but we can be pretty sure he isn't.

Here's a detailed explanation.

No, how'd he do that?

Lookout Mountain is actually in Georgia.
About 2003, Jim Gaar went to the FAA in Wichita, Ks. and spent the day explaining in detail how the whole industry of flight parks
was operating illegal tugs. Gaar thought I was lying, I guess when I told him this is why hull insurance on a Dragonfly, illegally towing
hang gliders, was irrelevant.

As a self appointed, more than equal partner, The Gaar faction of Dragonfly ownership didn't want to start towing
until hull insurance was procured.

The u$hPa exemption is for Part 103 aircraft. Even a lawyer's son should be able to figure it out without
driving 5 hs. to Wichita.

Matt Tabor was shut down soon there after.
Epic.
Years before Tad. That was a different deal altogether.
Jim Gaar, has personally shut down more flight parks than anyone else I know in history.

I'm glad I didn't hold my breath expecting Blindrodie to comment on this topic.
What I would really like to hear from him is the story of final dispensation of the now defunct flight park and when I can expect reimbursement for the same.
How did other partners fare?

Also, how is a guy that frequently brags about running a flight park, (as his own) for five years, only a Hang 3, 15 years later?
Come on Jim, surprise me.
