Rigid Aluminum hang strap

Postby dhmartens » Sat Jan 07, 2017 11:40 pm

I was channeling OP when I got the idea of a rigid aluminum hang strap. Has one ever been used? I remember seeing the video of Markus before he fatally plowed into mountainside and I saw his body impacted the wing and keel during severe turbulence. A rigid hang strap would have kept him from impacting the wing/keel and causing it to fold up. I just wondered if there was a history of such a device.

Similar to the rigid hang strap, I've wondered if a lanyard to the base tube has been tried. Maybe a line running from shoulders to knees below the base tube? Maybe include a bungee for some degree of softening?

Keep innovating Doug!!!

Eric Raymond used lanyards to the A-frame junctions for his multiple loop records on his Sunseed in 80 or 81, I think.
Makes sense.
