Postby Frank Colver » Thu Apr 07, 2016 12:36 pm

The latest issue of Hang Gliding & Paragliding Magazine has a feature article about Wills Wing - the company and it's history. Very good reading :!: Kudos to the magazine.

Also, the announcement that Mike Meier has been awarded this year's "Rob Kells lifetime achievement award". Way to go Mike :!: You richly deserve it :!:

I bought my first Wills Wing in 1980. A 189 Raven. I quickly became a Raven Maniac!

Since then I have owned 7 more of their gliders. I've flown at least 5 other models of Wills Wing.

Even with my history as a Wills Wing owner and pilot I would expect that I have only a small idea of how much of Mike is in each one of those wings. But I expect it's a significant amount.

Obvious to most, Mike is a big part of the longest running US maker of finely crafted flex wing gliders. I'm happy to hear that he was awarded the "Rob Kells lifetime Achievement Award". Who better than one of Rob's old partners at Wills Wing!

Mike has been a class act for as long as I've known him .... and I'm sure for much longer than that.

I'm saddened by the fact that i no longer have the prototype SST that was designed and built by the hands of Bob Wills. I bought the prototype after Bob had taken it through high stress flight tests in Hawaii. No other SST produced by WW was exactly like that first prototype and i traded it away for some electronic gear after it was no longer in good airworthy condition.
