Greetings US Hawks

Greetings to all,

As I mentioned to Bob, I am returning to Hang Gliding after a 35 year hiatus. I had been working on my Hang 2, having just completed my 2nd flight from the 150' launch, when my wife gave me the news that she was pregnant. Fast forward, 2 sons and 2 grand sons later I am back to finish what I started as a young man. This last weekend I completed my H1 tasks and flew my new Falcon 4 195 for the 1st time. To top it off, I even passed the written test. H1 down, H2 here I come.

Climbing the training hills (over and over) was a lot tougher than it was when I was a 22 yo, but on the bright side technology has marched-on. Back in the day I would have had to haul the glider up to the 150' launch in order to train for my Hang 2. Now I get to train for my HII using Mission Soaring Center's winch system :D.

Life is good - Regards,

Rich Klein

Towing is advantageous to two groups: pilots without hills and instructors without patience.
Good luck.

Welcome Richard,
Are you a close relative to the Richard Klein mentioned in the article:
Space History Photo: The Birth of Hang Gliding
?????

[[Of course, the birth of hang gliding was not with the Paresev program! Otto L. and others had some hands and wings in the actual birth! But, if one concentrates on mid-20th century renaissance, the players HERE. ]]

Best to you and yours,
Joe F.
