Hang Glider Up for Auction

Postby wingspan33 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 5:00 pm

Hello Folks,

I happened upon a Pacific Airwave glider on an auction site. No one is biding on it with a starting price of $50. I'd bid myself but the glider is for "Pick up Only" and is located near Colorado Springs, CO - and I'm in central NYS. Shipping is possible, but that would cost about $300 - $500 to NY).

I figured I'd post a note about it here in case someone closer to Colorado Springs was looking for an inexpensive (2nd?) glider - or . . . happened to be driving east and could act as a "free" shipping agent (highly unlikely, I know).

The glider looks to be in okay condition, but will probably need (at least) a good going over. It's vintage probably falls somewhere in the early 1990s. However, an in-person inspection is the only way to be sure of anything. Odd that the USHPA's home office is located only a few miles away.

The auction ends tomorrow morning (12/31) and here is a link to the listing [ http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.as ... D=15102350 ] .

If someone out there is interested I'm sorry I posted this so late. However, a single bidder at $50 will probably win the wing.

Happy New Year, either way!

Great eyeballs for spotting that one Scott!!

I've contacted a few of the folks who I think might be interested. One of them is an active instructor and he's always looking for gliders for his students.

Thanks Scott!!!

Well Bob, it's not too odd for me to find things at that site - I've pick up a lot of things there. A few months ago I picked up a '70s era US Army parachute. It's in fine (almost mint) condition and generally fully functional - if I wanted to jump from a plane with it. Although that was not my goal.

Anyway, this morning someone did bid on the glider and won it for a meager $50. Not sure if it was someone you contacted or someone else seeing my post, or . . . just some (thrill seeking?) stranger. But it was put up for bid a couple weeks ago and got no takers, so perhaps my notice helped keep it from ending up in a dump somewhere.

Thanks for posting it here!!! I just called my most likely purchaser and it wasn't him. But, like you said, it could have been anyone who'd seen it here, so please keep posting things like that. We could start a "Buy/Sell/Trade" kind of topic if anyone plans to put up a lot of those kinds of posts.

Either way, thanks for posting Scott. I hope to see more of your posts in 2014!!
