The First Annual Sandia Open Aerial Rodeo (SOAR)

I just got the following email message:
This sounds like a fun event!!!
Hang glider and paraglider pilots, families, and friends are invited to attend and participate in:
The First Annual Sandia Open Aerial Rodeo (SOAR)
August 30, 2012 - September 03, 2012
at the Albuquerque Balloon Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico
The event is a fun fly-in with non-sanctioned competitions for spot landings, open distance, and freestyle flights for points. Foot-launch sites include the legendary Sandia Crest (P3/H3, elevation 10,600) and Sandia Peak (P4/H4) thermalling sites, as well as some great nearby soaring sites: La Bajada (P2/H2, a 30 minute drive, between Albuquerque and Santa Fe), Grants/Farley’s (P2/H2), Blue (P2/H2), and Alamogordo. Practice areas for beginner and intermediate students include the West Hill (P1/H1) and the South Hill (P0/H0), both in Albuquerque. There are also some towing operations (scooter, truck, and aero), training outfits, and tandem operators in the area.
Bring your beach blanket and festival chairs to the 78-acre Park. We hope to have scooter towing at the field, live music, food vendors, aviation organization booths, RC airplanes, kite flying, frisbee, and more...
The SOAR event is brought to you by Freewind Aviation and the Sandia Soaring Association. Get more information and register to participate as a pilot at http://www.freewindaviation.com.
