COMING HOME

Postby Chris McKeon » Fri May 13, 2022 2:23 pm

Hi Guys:

Well it is looking like that I will be returning to My rightful place, "THE SKY!" this June I will fly George's Condor over at Pacifica. I am so sorry that I will not be able to make it down South so that I could Fly, Soar, and then whack Frank's Condor upon landing. But my resources are so limited. You know none of My Doctors saw this happening. Their Prognosis's were so dire nature. In Fact way back in 2010, when I had been carted off and was taken to John Muir Hospital. Pilot-X who was like the first to get to the Hospital, was told to inform My Family to Put My things in order for I was not going to make it. Needless to say; I will not ask any of those Doctors to attend My SKY-Coming Flight.

But then there are You Guys. Do any of You want to Fly XC up the Coast to Pacifica, so that You can be there for My Return to Free-Flight? Anyways I hope some of You will be willing to make the trek so that You will be able to see my most awesome Flight. Good By Chris McKeon: 925-497-1059, CCMCK@GOLDSTATE.NET

Does that site require USHPA membership to fly?

I do not know Bob, but I will find out.

You know for Me this so strange a situation for Me to find Myself in. For I do to simply having pounded Myself into the ground. I must take efforts to require My Drivers License. I need to go through the Process of getting observed demonstrating that I am still a knowledgeable and competent Pilot.

Yes here I am a Hang-0, and I am a 61 Year-old Male who is like a mere kid who is just itching, and waiting till I am 16 Years old so that I can go down to My local DMV and get My Drivers License.

Am I Wrong? Am I selfish?

Postby Chris McKeon » Mon May 16, 2022 8:12 am

I have a Question: Am I Wrong? Am I selfish? I mean on Saturday when My Friend who Flew Saturday. Well even though the Sky looked really Good. I asked Pilot-X not to Fly X-C. I think that I said something like; Why Don't You choose not to Fly X-C, and then when You have decided that You have Flown long enough. Why don't You just lend across the Street from My House at the Mount Diablo State Parks Primary L-Z.

OK Guys Question: Was I selfish? Should I have said go for it? Fly Far. No I think it was a wrong thing to say to "X". I mean X-C Flying is all of our End Goals, Correct? It is just like what Annetta B said: "A day without X-C is like a Day without Sunshine"

Not for everyone. For me, flying is the end goal all by itself. I have never felt the need to go anywhere or to compete with anyone. I just enjoy flying.

Bob I Flew XC on My Predator Because of the Very same reasons that You have said about Flying. I just love the experience of being up in the Sky! I mean like when I will be Flying an X/C route The flying experience is so enhanced by having your view enhanced by the changes regarding what You get to see. You said the Word Competition. Hell I do not compete. Competing when Flying has little to no appeal for Me. I simply see Flying XC as an an very rewarding Flying Experience.

FLYING EXPERIENCES;

I have had experiences simply due to simply having gone on an XC Flight that one can not buy. I once flew a short XC Flight only about Forty Miles from My Home Mountain site Mount Diablo. I landed in Vacaville California. Well that was where those Guys who were employed by the Owners of the piece of Dirt that I landed on, Drove out to see Me. These two young Men talked to Me. I was that I should not land there anymore. They asked Me Where I had launched From? I pointed towards Mount Diablo, which was only like 44 miles AWAY. those two Guys stood there trying to wrap their that I had just Flown My Hang-Glider that far. Far? Really, Far? 44 Miles being a Far flight. People just do not get it, they do not understand. You and I both know that a 44 Mile XC Flight is not as Long XC Flight. By the way I did that Flight with out having a driver. Now How I got My self, My Predator, and then Got My Truck off the Mountain. Now that was an adventure.

Or check this one out. One time I flew from The Mountain site WOLF'S PEAK which is only a Mile or two from Sonora Pass, up in the Sierra Mountain range. Well about four or five hours later I found myself sinking out. I landed in a Field right on the outskirts of the town Gardnerville Nevada. I had the wings Folded on my Predator. My Predator was resting on it's control frame. I walked over to the nearest House to where My Predator was, I knocked on the Door. A lady opened the Door. I introduced Myself. I pointed to My Predator. that was sitting out in the Field on it's control frame out in the Field. I told her that I did not have a Cell-Phone. Could I please use Your Phone to call My Driver. She said to Me that I could use Her Phone. She asked Me where Had I launched from. I told Here Sonora Pass. I will never forget how loud and disbelieving reply. She practically yelled to Me saying; "Sonora Pass! You are lying! Sonora Pass is over Fifty Miles from Here!" I said to Her; OK yes I have told You a Ly. I carried My Glider From Sonora Pass to here. But now I a tired. Can I use Your Phone to call my friend KM so that He can drive Me and My Glider back to Sonora Pass. So in the end it all worked out fine I called K-M. I tried to educate Her regarding Flying Cross Country. How the Sun's Heat energy creates rising columns of Air. Thermals, how we use those rising columns of Air to Gain altitude, then after getting high enough. We will go on Glide, then repeat the process again and again. But She really did not get it. I tried to get the idea across as to How the Sun is the Engine that drives us. It would have been so much less frustrating for Me to Convey how My Glider was able to fly long distances if only I had a Mosquito Harness attached to My Glider. It is amazing to Me How ignorant some People are.

But what an experience I had. Launching from a launch in California. Landing in a field in Nevada. Being called names by a distraught home owner. What an experience.

This Slacker Phoenix Pilot, will Fly San Diego Sites

Postby Chris McKeon » Wed May 18, 2022 3:25 pm

Hello everyone;

So I just hate to say that I will not be coming down for the Otto Meet. But even though the "SLACKER FACTOR" in Me took over. I just am not able to make the Trip down there. But do not count Me out. Yes I have been forced to be grounded for the last 12 Years. This was due to the fact that I experienced a Violent pounding that occurred at the end of my very short XC flight. But that 12 Years ago. Currently I have the upcoming opportunity to fly a 330 condor over at Ocean Beach up here in Northern California. Ocean Beach is just south of San Francisco,

But please do not count Me Out. I plan on flying My 158 Predator once again. When I have My Drivers License re-instated. I will load My Predator up onto My Truck. then I will drive down to Southern California. I realize that You Guys have a Plethora of site to choose from when You are located down there in the SAN Diageo AREA. Hum, What are the names of the Sites? I want to see if Bob will take to sites Like Horse Canyon, Little Black Mountain, Or, Or, Or? I mean I am so Jealous. there are so many sites for You Guys to Fly!

So even though I will not be coming down for the Otto Meet. Just get prepared for My arrival when I will be coming down. Then You can show me the Flying routes that You use for a Given Site,

Hello Everyone:

Here it is Thursday Morning, the Thursday before The Otto Meet. I will Not be coming down for the Otto Lilienthal Meet this weekend. I was going to Fly the Condor that Andy has at Windsports at Dockweiler Beach. Then if My Flights went well Flying Andy's Condor, and believe Me it had better had gone well. I mean Flying at the Beach, Flying a Gigantic 330 square feet of single single surface Glider. I have yet to see a Condor. But my friend Pilot-X has. Well X has His Atos that He Fly's regularly. But He now also has a W-W 225 Falcon that He has started Flying. "X" says that a Condor dwarfs His 225 Falcon.

By the way I see this, it will be a truly Dark day in My flying if I were to whack a Condor. But I teased Bob by saying that I was going to whack a Condor. I just love to talk-type Trash.

I believe that next Month I will Fly George Hamilton's Condor at Ocean Beach which is near San Francisco.

You know, I feel a little bad about My not being able to get Myself Down south to Fly. Because I know that there are a couple of Pilots down South want to be there to see what My Doctors never thought that I would do. I will be walking, I will be talking. I will be striding that Circus Tent sized Condor into the Air. Well as of this Morning Thursday May 19th. I am no more than a Month away from returning to My Home. The place I like to call My home is 3'000 feet cloud base Way.

WS=ell when I am back as in being able to drive My Truck. plan on loading My Predator onto My Truck. I will drive down to Southern California. I will be asking Bob to show Me one, Two, Three, Four or more of the inland sites that You guys have down there. You know I am impressed with the Plethora of inland Flying Sites that You Have available to You, that Is if You live in the Greater San Diego California.

San Diego Hang-Glide Central.

Postby Chris McKeon » Sun May 22, 2022 10:19 am

This is it, I am looking at My reality of Flight. I do not Fly currently. I have not flown in over 12 Years. But that realty of not Flying is going to change in June. Yes I have a Condor to Fly. I can only imagine here what it will be like flying a huge 330 foot mega Glider! It is looking as though we will be going to Ocean Beach or will it be Pacifica? Multiple Beach sites it is starting to sound like way down in San Diego California. San Diego sounds like a blessed are to live in if You like to Fl0y H-G's. I mean look at the options. You have multiple Beach sites. Torrey Pines, Dockweiler. I do not know there might be other Beach Sites. Then there are those inland Sites to choose from. Palomar, Little Black Mountain, Big Black Mountain. The only factor that could be an impediment to one being able to Fly those Mountain Flights would be Your not having a 4 Wheel Drive.

But the reality of Living down in the San Diego Area is; You have make the Mental decision as to which site will I Fly today? Yes, I want to move to San Diego California, Hang-Gide Central USA!

Postby Chris McKeon » Sun May 22, 2022 6:13 pm

Hello everyone:

It appears that i will indeed fly again. You see I will be Flying George H's 330 Condor next month at I believe that momentous Flight. My first flight in12 Years, When I fly, and make no doubt, I will strut Georges Glider back into the Air at the Costal site of of My friends chose regarding where I will Fly. It will be either Ocean Beach, or Pacifica. You guys must know that Frank offered his330 Condor for Me To Fly, to Fly and whack by the way. Taking a trip this Weekend turned out not to be. I could not get myself down South. My ability to travel, To Drive. has been curtailed do to the Fact that on My last Flight I did a super Pound. When one goes into a Coma. Doctors as a Matter of practice notify the DMV of your condition. The DMV automatically revokes Your driving Privilege's. Well I am on the road, next Month I will be on the Sky-Road back to normalcy.

So remember that When you are climbing in a Thermal, and A Teal Green Predator come up and cores through You it will be Me!
