Dear Hawks,
After this amazing success at Dockweiler on Monday November 18th 2024, this is what might become the next TPHG I'm working on.
I was at geneva's airport this afternoon (yes in Switzerland we already had an afternoon today
) and I saw a lot of people with ski bags (around 5.6 ft more or less) and that makes me confident about the next project.
As some of you already know, because of the TPHG 4.6 (thank's to Erika and Eric), I've recieved a lot of emails from around the world. And with all those contacts, one told me "I remember when I was flying my RANGER..."
Yes, to make it short, I went to Munich Germany to buy one of those SCHMIDTLER'S hang glider named RANGER. As already told in the topic about the TPGH 5ft Movment, this hang glider is from 1979 and was packed into a 5ft bag already. Now, I have/know more about. I'm in contact with Mister SCHMIDTLER his self (85yo) and I'm anticipating to meeting him in Munich, like I was to meeting you guys in LA
First of all, I'm going to use Joe's Cup in this project. Thank's Joe for this great idea !!
This element is needed because of the lake of tube dimensions. If in the past short packed HG were packed as you know with tubes side by side, the one I want to make are one into the others. With my last week drawings, I can tell you that I already have nearly 8 inches extra, so I have some material to cut, which is gooood !
Then, I'll keep the original RANGER sail shape. The RANGER was the, or one of the first DHV certified HG back in 1979 ! I flew safely (when pilots are safe too). And as you know and as I wrote it, I do want my next product to be DHV certified.
About the structure, last week I draw the interlocking parts for storage and I had nearly 8 inches extra. That's means we are on the good way.
About the weight, the RANGER is a 18kg HG. My SuperFex from FINSTERWALDER is 15.6kg. I'll love to be between those two models.
Finely, about the lenght, and because on some companies snow accessories like ski and surf are free of charge, that makes alle the difference ! So the next TPHG will be around 5.6ft
I'm a little bit running after time and money, but it will be OK
For the one's that do not know much about me http://www.hangglifter.com
