I was in court yesterday, and I will be in court again next week. So I apologize that I've been pretty busy with other immediate concerns.

I do think this is an extremely serious matter. From the videos I've seen, it seems very likely that Jonathan"s original footage would incriminate him. If someone were to issue a subpoena for the original unedited footage, Jonathan would be in a difficult position. There might, however, be a statute of limitations issue protecting him. I'm not sure about that.

But regardless of what the FAA or the courts might do, I agree that USHPA should take some action. But between you and I (and everyone else in the world who might read this), we know that USHPA will take no action. Still, maybe someone should force the issue?

With regard to the U.S. Hawks, I'm still thinking about it. As I said, my plate has been pretty full with other matters. We will probably need another Board member soon.

At 2:40 in his video I recognize the ground terrain at Kagel Mountain underneath him and he is within 700 feet on the ground so I think it is legal to enter clouds partially or get near them. If you are 5,000' Agl then it is not ok to fly into clouds or fly in between them where aircraft cannot see you.

Still, the FAA could make him wear an ankle bracelet.

In due time you won't be able to leave your house without a working internet connection. You also won't be able to drive your own car or use cash that's not somehow tracked. It will all be done in the name of safety.

I think that Jonathan took Joe's really great post about "Dew Giving Clouds", way out of context, and actually thought that he could "gain knowledge" by being close to (and filming) "Dew Giving Clouds". Maybe numbers should be registered to each wing, (like fixed wing) so when rules are broken, numbers could be turned in , not only by pilots, but by civilians on the ground. There should be consequences for breaking FAR's.

Jonathan doesn't believe he was doing anything wrong. He calls it 'harmless mischief making'.
He's just a harmless youtube star that doesn't want to acknowledge what he really knows about the danger to people, property and the sport of Part 103 aviation. What is USHPA gonna do about this?

I don't see any disconnect in Jay Z's kind remarks and I am the OP which is ironic since that was Orian's nickname.
We were both mischief makers and that was the the intent of the video, to celebrate the making of harmless mischief. The timing of this release is to celebrate the holiday season which is reflected in Jay Z's remarks. I wish you and everyone a happy and safe New Year.
