Sport? Recreation?

Postby JoeF » Tue Nov 24, 2015 3:54 pm

What are the differences between "sport" and "recreation" as regards hang gliding?
Is there a difference between "sport hang gliding" and "recreational hang gliding"?
A pilot might partake in sport hang gliding and recreational hang gliding?
The organized sporting events in the world of hang gliding involve frequently complexes that are quite different from informal gatherings of recreational hang gliding pilots. Money, material prizes, sponsors, reserved places. contracts, etc. ...: significant formal sporting events; invitation and charges and fees; severe place competition; special insurance matters; managers and directors; qualifying gates and scoring; significant approvals by many agencies; public impact. Competition rules. Vanilla. Manufacturers' delight. Follow Davis Straub.

The world of recreational hang gliding seems ever to have one care for improving skills: skill of caring for wings, piloting, coordination with friends. Fun flying. Informal gatherings according to availability and weather. Visits. Meeting. Parties. Forums. Builds. Honors. Recognition. Swirls and gardens. Wing and activity variety.

What effects are there on an organization when it involves in sport events?
What effects are there on an organization when it does only recreational hang gliding promotion and protection?

How do property owners and laws respond to sporting events? To open recreation?

What is in the vision of U. S. Hawks?
Note: One who is entrenched in recreational hang gliding may at times choose also to enter sport hang gliding or to operate in any of the other non-recreational hang gliding sectors.
An org dedicated to recreational hang gliding need not be for or against the following while being focused and for recreational hang gliding:
1. Military hang gliding.
2. Criminal hang gliding.
3. Scientific hang gliding.
4. Hang gliding for hire.
5. Movie-scene hang gliding.
6. Commercial tandem hang gliding (training, joy, discovery, transportation, industrial service, ...).
7. Energy-production hang gliding where the energy is sold.
8. Paid-test-pilot hang gliding.
9. Professional photography hang gliding.
10. Professional surveying hang gliding.
11. Professional hang gliding doing aerial advertising for hire.
12. Hang gliding employed in industrial operations.
13. Hang gliding hired to fight fires.
14. Hang gliding hired to do police work.
15. Hang gliding hired to fulfill investigations by governments and businesses.
16. Hang gliding used to break immigration laws.
17. Hang gliding hired to entertain assemblies of people.
18. Hang gliding pointedly dedicated to push a political cause.
19. Hang gliding aggressively done to increase the sales of something.
20. Prison-escape hang gliding.
21. Hang gliding done to fulfill a business operation.

Every human at every point in history has an opportunity to choose courage over cowardice. Look around and you will find that opportunity in your own time.
