Strange insect

Take a look at this strange insect.
It is on the outside brick wall in the back yard.
It is about ¾ of and inch wide and about the same in length.
I just blew on it and yes those left and right things are its wings.
It flew away.
That is about the weirdest place that I have ever seen wings attached.

My daughter says: I think it is a Morning Glory Plume Moth.

I think your link is "clickable", but I think their web site might be having problems. When I've clicked on it I get this:

HTTP ERROR: 504

Gateway Timeout

I tried several variations and got the same response, including this one from the main web site:

It might be that your posting has gotten so many people interested in bugs that their web site can't keep up with the traffic?

Cool picture. I think yours is as good (or better) than any on the bug site!!     

The site goes on to say:

Like most of the Pterophoridae, the wings are cleft or divided, but this can be difficult to see, as the moth often rests with the wings rolled up tightly."

Hmmm.... just like my Falcon!!

I think a safe-splat device for that bug would have to defend it against        ...        fly swatters!!
